Choosing a Carrier: Features

Each carrier has different requirements for transporting animals. Be sure to find out the rules before the trip. Traveling by bus may require an additional fee or the purchase of a separate seat for the Burmese cat.

In transport, the Burmese cat will need a carrier. To ensure your pet is comfortable, choose the right one:

• Sufficient length and height
• Reliable locks
• Free air access
• Water container

Cover the bottom of the cage with absorbent material and disposable pads.

When transporting your pet by plane, call the airline and notify them that you are bringing a Burmese cat. There may be restrictions on the number of animals allowed. Some companies prohibit the presence of antagonistic pets (cats and dogs). The sooner you inform them, the higher the chances of traveling together, rather than on separate flights.

Important: Air transportation in wooden crates is prohibited. If the container does not meet the standards of the International Air Transport Association, the Burmese cat will not be allowed on board.

Transporting an animal by plane is considered excess baggage and is charged separately.

Document Preparation

It is easier to transport a Burmese cat if the owner has prepared the documents and vaccinated the cat in advance. Otherwise, you will need to:

• Microchip the Burmese cat. The chip contains information about the animal and the owner. Travel is not allowed without microchipping. The chipping date must be earlier than the vaccination date.
• Vaccinate and record it in the international passport. At least a month must pass after the vaccinations.
• Obtain a veterinary certificate to establish the cat’s identity. Validity period – 5 days.
• Arrive at the airport early – the veterinary certificate is exchanged for an international veterinary certificate.

Check with the consulate of the destination country for the requirements for transporting a Burmese cat. Sometimes a pedigree, proof of no breeding value, and other documents issued by feline organizations are required.

Preparing Your Pet

Take a veterinary first aid kit, a litter box, and water for the cat to ensure a comfortable journey.

Tips:

• Buy the carrier in advance. Let the Burmese cat get used to it, arrange a cozy bed so the cat wants to go inside. This will make the long journey easier for the pet.
• Transport multiple Burmese cats in separate carriers. This provides more space and ventilation, reducing the risk of overheating. Even best friends can become stressed and aggressive, causing injuries.
• Do not feed the Burmese cat 4-5 hours before the trip. They may feel unwell. Offer water. Buy a bowl that attaches to the cage and can be easily filled without opening the door.
• If the Burmese cat will be transported in the cargo hold, give a light sedative approved by a veterinarian. The animal will sleep and arrive calm and rested.
• When filling out the customs declaration, indicate the value of the animal as less than 1000 dollars. This will avoid paying large customs duties.
• Upon arrival at your destination, safely place the cat, offer food and water, and ensure the Burmese cat does not escape to explore the area.
